"SAINT NICK'S STORY:
Saint Nick is an American Shetland Pony. He is between 12 to 15 years old. Nick was an owner surrender. The owner wanted to have him shot. Nick has a severe foot injury that has been terribly neglected and now Nick's life is at stake...his leg is infected with a horrible, and potentially fatal fungus called Pythiosis. This is an injury that if it had been treated when it happened a long time ago, it wouldn't be in this HORRIBLE condition. But the fact is, is that his foot IS in this horrible condition, and the owner was just going to have Nick shot in the head. Instead, Lynnette Hummel (Gunny's Dancing Hooves Ranch and Rescue) took Nick in. Nick is in a tremendous amount of pain. His injury is quite severe and the infection is putting his life in serious danger. We found a veterinarian who specializes in severe injuries like Nick has. Dr. Jolly has agreed to accept Nick at his hospital in Arkansas, and is giving the rescue a huge financial break.... but, it is still going to be costly to pay for his treatment and to get him healthy again. Nick was trailer for more than 11 hours from Texas to Arkansas to Dr. Jolly's hospital to begin immediate treatment to save his life. They have begun the life-saving series of vaccinations that will hopefully give Nick the immune response he needs in order to fight this horrible Pythiosis fungus. In the meantime, Nick's life still hangs in the balance, and his medical bills keep mounting. So, that's Saint Nick's story. His life totally depends on each one of us to help him... every little bit helps. Please consider giving something, anything, to help Nick."
